    LOL

Carson said the images caught her eye during the meeting. “And I was like, ‘Those are naked women,’” she said. "And then I was like, ‘No, wait a minute. Those aren’t naked, surely those aren’t naked women. Something is playing a trick on my eye. Maybe they just have on tan body suits. … This is just really bizarre.’

“I saw them just walking across the screen, and I’m like, ‘no.” I’m sorry I even have to use this language, but I’m like, ‘Those are her nipples.’ And then I’m like, ‘That’s pubic hair.’ What in the world am I watching? I didn’t watch a second longer. … I was so disturbed by it, I was like, ‘What is on your TV?’ I was very stern, like I’d been a mother or a classroom teacher. And I said, ‘What am I watching? Turn it off now!’”

This is like the reaction you would get from Calvinists during the Victorian era.

These people literally still live in the mindspace of the 1800’s.

Wow. It’s so taboo to talk about the human body that you can’t even say “pubic hair”? I am so grateful not to have grown up there and I feel so bad for everybody who did.

i grew up in the state.

it’s honestly not so bad, most people are reasonable and not entirely insane. at least any more so than the rest of the USA. i’ve traveled all over the country and seen that 1. most places here are, for all their differences, pretty similar and 2. an oddly large number of people will, without any irony at all, ask dumb as shit questions like “oh you guys have houses? i thought they still lived in tipis there…”, which is part of what compels me to clear up the image that Oklahoma is just some backwater. OKC and Tulsa are both larger cities than New Orleans, and by a non-insignificant population count too.

it’s just one of those states where the republicans have a gerrymandered, fascist hold on the government and have for a long time. they win virtually every single election at every level in Oklahoma and control the entire state government, all appointments are basically made solely by the republican party here. they control what does and doesn’t pass the legislature. yet, demographically, the republicans do not have nearly the super-majority that would justify this power. we’ve been prisoners of y’al-qaeda for basically the entire history of the state. and this isn’t by any long shot the only state like this, it just might be one of the worst. they test their shitty fucking playbooks and “go-fuck-yourself-with-razorblades” laws out on us because it is a large market/population. a century and a half of being the american fascist guinea pigs has led us to be one of the civil societies in the US in the most disrepair. we’re near bottom or dead last for virtually any metric of societal health when compared to other states.

don’t hate these people please, not saying you are but it’s a common sentiment. i fucking despised the south and would belittle southerners when i was a naive teen bc of my resentment for their racism and general ethos. a lot of them are fucked up, but for a large number of them, they are victims too.

evangelical Christians are so sexually repressed from puritanical beliefs, it drives them into sexual deviancies in some cases.

        Biggest mistakes in human history:

        • Letting the Puritans leave instead of killing them

        • Letting them settle a continent instead of killing them

        • Letting them live after defeating them in a civil war

        • Letting them take over government instead of killing them

It’s more the evangelicals, not the puritans. Evangelizing / forcing their beliefs onto others with no regard to other’s wishes is a core evangelical belief.

Just gonna point out that the Puritans who settled in the North like those of the Massachusetts Bay colony eventually evolved into churches like that ran by old John Brown. Northern Puritans were often times radical egalitarians who helped lay the groundwork for things like the og labor movements of the 1800s, eventually some even evolved into modern universalist churches.

I note all of this to say that Southern derived Puritans are little more than slavers under new clothes. It’s all to reinforce the Southern derived social order and hierarchy, which is to say if Northern Puritans were subject to their congregation and their god Southern Puritans were subject to the rich and their bigotry.

Sorry just something that I think needs to be spread about, I ain’t even Christian I’m a Heathen but Northern Puritans are distant kin so I feel the need to defend them. Also some of them were based and outright armed union militia which is just fucken great.

I’m angry too but there MUST be better solutions to these problems than genocide. It’s easy to wave your hand and say “make them gone forever” but it’s lazy and cruel. If you want it fixed, put the time in. Genocide is for pussies.

I dunno. Feels like a prank. If it was actually him, he probably would have been saying things like “how did that happen” and all the usual bs. Instead he was thinking of how he was going get revenge on the person who did it. And the most damning peice of evidence… I doubt he knows how to connect that screen to the internet.

I dunno. He accused the board members who pointed it out of lying. If he had nothing to hide, why say they’re lying? Why not just say “I have no idea how this happened”? The only alternative explanation I can think of for accusing them is that maybe he’s paranoid?

Having grown up in the ultra-conservative puritan world, with its absurd and unhealthy levels of sexual repression, I would be genuinely surprised if this guy wasn’t regularly consuming porn. And he’s a millennial, so I wouldnt be at all surprised by him knowing how to connect a screen…

Truth. Though without having interacted with the guy I can’t know if he fits the mold of people like him. He could be an outlier. But I guess the other people could be lieing too. It’s really all a crapshoot.
And at the end of the day, I don’t care if he watches porn or even what kind of person he is. I care about his impact on the children under his care. Everything else is a distraction.

Cosmo, Wanda, I wish the people who most loudly demand we be Christians were Christians themselves. It’s obvious men like this clearly do not behave as though they believe a God is judging them for their sins.

It’s almost a bad stereotype at this point that people who are obsessed with policing the sex lives of others have sexual issues themselves.

Stereotype? It’s nearly a universal truth at this point. Whatever they campaign against, they are doing. The list of people who are actually truthful and not sex predators, cheaters, bi/gay/CD or watching porn that they advocate banning would be shorter.

It’s to the point where as soon as them start mouthing off about what others should be doing, or how purely xtian they themselves are, that’s when we should seize their devices and have them searched.
