Arguably, taking off on this tangent, murdering Hitler might have very well pumped the brakes on the Holocaust. Late-war letters and memos from German High Command mention that part of the issues they were having with manpower and materiel was due to Hitler’s insistence on running the camps, which was a serious drain on manpower and logistics.
It’s the puritanical Christianity (no alcohol ever - there’s a lot of people who want to go back to a more strict and all encompassing form of Prohibition) mixing with prosperity gospel Christianity (you can’t be poor if God is happy with you, and poor people must be sinning or somehow wrong with God).
This depends on the employer. I have absolutely worked (in short bursts) for employers that have told me any sick time must be accompanied by a doctor’s note, even for a routine illness like flu, cold, etc. This is usually an attempt to make sure people don’t actually take days off, ever, especially since it’s often combined with arcane PTO rules.
This is exactly it. The owner class thinks everyone below them is dumb as fucking rocks. They think they’re the smart ones for extracting value from people, even if they’re not terribly good at actually doing things like making money or doing business or anything like that.
Not half as many as the administration wants you to think, that’s why they’ve been snatching pretty much any immigrants they think they can get away with. The media messaging is trying to conflate immigration with undocumented immigration very deliberately.
Yeah, this has been on my mind as well ever since ICE during the first Trump admin said “well we don’t have a way to make sure these kids wind back up with their families if they’re deported”. Even if the intended purpose isn’t trafficking kids into sex, it’s an incredibly target-rich environment for it - and when the DHS head says “yeah we don’t actually keep too much track on who these kids were with or where they’re actually supposed to be”, well…
Nah, media companies have been doing this for years now, and now the gaming industry has figured out the “cancel something and claim the potential profits as a tax writeoff”.
