Well, this was as predictable as the tides. Even before the murder of Charlie.
If they’re going to start labeling literally anyone they disagree with as a t3rr0r@st just for existing, they shouldn’t be surprised when the crazier ones start acting that way in response

Yes, those trans people are going from college to college and holding fake debates with conservative kids that are actually just facades that push their ideology on them and then cut those debates up and spread the clips on the internet to indoctrinate more people and receiving massive donations from likeminded companies in the process…oh wait, that was Charlie Kirk doing that.
And notable trans person Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk last week…oh wait, he’s not trans.
Almost like Republicans do all of the stuff they accuse us of doing. Imagine that? Almost like they are projecting or something.

More and more I’m convinced that the general population doesn’t actually care about issues and will vote for their own destruction just to see something “interesting” happen.
This sounds like a critique of the right and liberal population, but it’s even worse in the leftist spaces where the only thing people can do is tear each other down, to complain about each other’s performatism or lack thereof, to act overly sensitive and create spectacle and drama over non-issues.
You are all the same creature and you need to be better aware of your biases and vulnerabilities, stop letting your cynicism and boredom with politics drive your engagement to self-destructive division.
I know I might as well be whispering into a hurricane here, but maybe some kid will read this and realize that his energy will be better spent organizing or supporting local candidates instead of leading protests against sports mascots or arguing with other leftists online if their profile is inclusive enough.
it’s an interesting point. and to get metaphysical with it, I think emotion creates events and the biggest emotion social media can seem to come up with is hate.
I’m not convinced that folks actually believed that she was against it per se. Maybe they said it errantly in passion or out of bad faith, IDK.
More that she was tepid on that front, willing to lose that without much fight.
But sure: Epstein files, for what gains you think they’ll make.
Well, I’ll say this: if they didn’t believe it, they were pretty good at faking it.
I think they really did believe it, and I think that’s because the “anti-trans Harris” sentiment was deliberately promoted as much as possible. And I think it helped elect trump.
Something no one who espoused that particular talking point wanted to hear.

EDIT: Let me add, when people go off on “Democrats lost the election by running a terrible candidate, don’t blame the voters” I think about this particular part. She wasn’t terrible. The voters fucked up.

War? What war? Wars require 2 or more belligerents.
This is just plans to intern and/or exterminate trans people. They don’t expect resistance, otherwise this would be that promise of deporting 9 million people and only last 2 weeks before they move on.
The silver-lining is this announcement may open up avenues for international asylum for trans people before shit starts going down.

It literally does not matter what the truth was, they have created a very obvious decoy to implement fascist protocols to lock our country down and start taking control over everything from media to industry (what little there is.)
The people who want this are a minority in the US population, much smaller than even the 30% or so that lean right or voted for Trump, however they carry the most power because they are zealous, armed and united, they stand strong and steady with each other even if it’s out of sheer stupidity, they also know on some level that the “trans menace” is just a propaganda poster and they don’t care, they want Daddy to spank everyone and know that there is no such thing as “law” or “rights” in this kind of stage. There never was, the only thing keeping marginalized people safe has always been just a social contract.
Our social contract has eroded because most of the rest of the population has spent too much time desensitizing themselves by scrolling 16 hours a day, seeking comfort and escape and de-socializing from each other, abandoning not just community but abandoning interpersonal lives entirely, too scared to talk to the opposite sex, too scared to make friends, too scared to change habits.
The “active” left is still broadly too caught up hand-wringing, performatism, crying about Epstein files, and believing that “something is going to happen” by itself, that some charismatic, socialist leader is going to appear and lead everyone to a better world, or the most delusional here literally believe we’re going to have an armed revolution and somehow beat the military and the millions of armed conservatives, and somehow will still live next to them in peace after we win.
We’re utterly fucked.
Your last points are especially true and it’s what I’ve been mentally wrestling with for some time.
An armed revolution is what the left wants, but – and I’m speaking hypothetically here – what happens to the first person to participate?
They attempt to exercise the amendment on one of the elected officials causing problems, and what immediately happens afterwards is they either get domed by the Secret Service, or they go to prison or some black site to be wiped off the face of the Earth. And everyone back home becomes an armchair analyst and says “Well, he did this and that wrong, that’s why it didn’t work/he got killed/incarcerated, what an idiot.” And then we’re back to the mass bystander effect we’re stuck in now.
The only possible solution I can think of is a national strike, but there’s not nearly enough pissed off people to pull it off.
But apparently he was dating a trans girl… So y’know, that’s convenient enough of an excuse for these morons. Ignore the fact that the dude who pulled the trigger was a while Republican male…
There is no stopping it. I can’t believe that I am seriously considering leaving the only place I’ve ever known. Leaving all of my loved ones behind.

For sure. The unfortunate thing for me is that I have no actual skills (trades, degrees, certs) to bring with me, let alone the cash to be able to do so.
I get the feeling that I am not the only one in this situation.

I was thinking similar. But it seems worse. Plenty of other governments are moving in the same direction. What country would be safe?

I was replying to people on lemmy a few months ago with something along the lines of “now is the time to leave the country, soon you wont be allowed to” and it really didnt take long at all. If you are trans, try to leave the country and seek asylum somewhere by citing this exact announcement. If you cant leave, then buy some guns so you can at least take some nazis with you to the grave when when they come to kill you.
My suggestion personally is that trans folk start taking boating lessons. They might not let you leave by plane, but they can’t stop a small boat from leaving shore somewhere, anywhere, along the 28,000 miles of coastline along the East Coast. Purchasing an old fishing trawler will be helpful, as if your boat obviously has fishing equipment onboard, drone strikes are less likely and less justifiable — especially given how many wealthy, white Americans regularly pilot their little boat-houses to Bermuda every year.
Additionally, in less than three days’ voyage, you can reach several sovereign overseas European territories through which to claim asylum, such as St. Pierre and Miquelon (France), Bermuda (Britain), Sint Maarten (Dutch), and Greenland (Denmark). Stay out of public, and stay safe everyone. Now is the time to use all of those social-avoidance skills we have been practicing for decades.
