So you meant it 10 seconds before and then all of a sudden you didn’t mean it, right?” Fontan said. “No,” Wise testified. “I don’t think I meant kill 'em, I don’t want people to die.”

If the police had joined the mob and helped them storm the capital, they wouldn’t have been attacked on Jan 6th. In fact, many of the rioters were - themselves - police, ex-military, or members of private security services.

Sure. Because it’s a cool Rambo-esque fantasy where you single-handedly beat a group of trained professionals at their own game.
But in practice? A meager handful of capital security guards were able to bar the doors and secure exit for the legislature, despite hundreds of protesters trying to storm the building. It remains a fantasy for a reason.
The real victory of MAGA has been in replacing leadership at these paramilitary agencies and turning them against the general public. Not in forming an anti-cop lynch mob.

He’s really a perfect hire for the Trump DoJ. First he yells at police that they are NAZIs and Gestapo and then goes and joins Trump’s Gestapo. Such a near inhuman capacity to withstand cognitive dissonance must be very handy at the DoJ now.
