The #1 thing Trump taught me is, if you talk with the shabbiest-false machismo and bravado, and you throw a certain amount of common-sense-racism-and-chauvinism in, people will just fully disengage their frontal lobes and register whatever you say as gospel. The client knew of me, that I have been stalked and gay bashed, and asked my husband to get my take. Therapists are allowed to share relevant details about their own lives if it’s helpful, it’s unusual for clients to follow up on them tho. I don’t have their name, just their situation, which is vague enough to share here.

My SO is a therapist with a client who’s being stalked by a severely mentally ill man. Her children are being stalked. I’m like - yes, police reports and whatnot, but they all need to have guns at this point, because the police aren’t going to stop it, and this guy is determined.

They are going to arm themselves.
