I got a Sailfish OS last year seeing the writing on the wall already with all the bootloader locking. It’s been bumpy to put it lightly, but at least it has Android apps to help get over the gaping holes of basic missing apps like a halfway decent XMPP client.

toastal@lemmy.mlto Open Source@lemmy.ml•What open-source software would you like more people to know about?0·1 year agoI suppose I would choose Darcs & Pijul for version control systems to bit into Git hegemony (& if you prefer Git hegemony, don’t use proprietary code forges).
Additionally just the general vibes of IRC & XMPP for battle-tested chat applications that are lightweight for clients & servers alike. These are the kinds of tools your next community should be built on if you want to minimize resource usage (data plans, storage capacity, battery, CPU churn).
KaiOS 4.x just dropped with Fx 128 I think. You will be on an underpowered flip phone, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing…
