Doom started out as an Aliens game. Though they pivoted away from that to retain more creative freedom.
Not an RPG, but in the Thief series the hardest difficulty usually means that you aren’t allowed to kill anyone. Many people even try to play the games as a ghost. Meaning the only sign of their presence after leaving is the stuff they stole. Every door has to be closed and locked again. Keys stolen from guards have to be returned (in lieu of a game mechanic for this you have to lay it on the ground behind them).
People do challenge runs of the Gothic games as pacifists. So it isn’t part of the games but doable with some shenanigans.
Unfortunately it died a few years ago.
I used to have an early VR headset. With 3DoF headtracking, 640x480 at 60 Hz (combined, so actually every eye got only half of that). Descent supported stereoscopic 3D and the headtracking could be added to almost every game with a mouse driver. It was bad. Really bad. Descent alone could be nausea inducing. In VR it was a literal pukefest. Still I had to try it every few months or so, because it was so cool on paper.
I remember spending hours configuring the controls to something I would like. Mouse aiming? Never heard of it!
All I remember from my scheme was that A and Z were for up and down. Orientation probably with the cursor keys. I know I had something on capslock and shift. Maybe forwards and backwards.
That’s how you see how overwhelmed he is emotionally.
Safe and clean games like my own Diarrhea 4.
I dreamt of trying to leave a building after work and ending up at a tea shop in the fourth floor and being mistaken for a woman named Dunja who was supposed to deliver new tea. I apologised and told them I was just passing through, on my way home. So I went out the back door, but that wasn’t the way out. So I came back, asked them for the way out and they indicated it would be the same way I came in. A group of people was trying to get out as well, so I followed them. But they ended up taking the wrong door, so they went back to the tea shop to take the right door.
When I arrived at the tea shop a third time I introduced myself as Dunja and said I’d like to drink some tea. They told me to take a seat next to the panda, that should be good for me. I said it would be perfect and fitting and woke up.
Can someone ELI5? Do I have to do something when I just use FDE with a passphrase?
I use SteamOS, which has a spoon full of Arch. May I say it?
No idea about their storage boxes. But I’ve rented dedicated servers from them for a long time. Both as a corporate and private customer. Never had a problem. Support was always great. Sometimes even Mr Hetzner himself would step in.
There are ratings in Discover on Linux. I have absolutely no idea where they are pulled from but that might be the right platform.
Isn’t one of Cloudflare’s biggest strengths that they have a shitton of servers around the world and can thus provide DDOS resilient caching?
Having a shitton of servers is kind of the antithesis of self hosting.
Definitely keep it simple for the first game. A Smash like was recommended in the other thread. I think that’s a fantastic idea. Start with a small roster of two characters and one stage and improve from there.
A smash type game would be great! Add characters from Tux Kart and from other open source projects. Maybe a paperclip and apple as well, as villains.
I back up all user data, for me that’s some folders in /var
, all of /etc
(don’t need everything, but it’s small enough), mysqldumps and pgsqldumps of my databases and the output of dpkg --get-selections
. And the backup script itself.
Everything is rsynced to a server in another location.
I want to switch to Borg backup but haven’t found the time yet.
Plus, their equivalent of the AUR, the open build system, can actually be used to build packages for any system.
Woohoo, some hacker kid is about to install Sober and Prism and will be the hero for everyone.
My kid’s elementary school has a computer club handling all the PCs. The other day they were surprised to hear that the PCs they were playing GCompris, Ktuberling, Pingus, Super Tux, Tuxpaint and Tux Kart on are running Linux.
Is that Bobby Tables all grown up?
