I would always spell it ‘jilted’. I think it’s one of those very obscure English pronunciation things based on letter relationships in the many languages of which English is composed. For backup I’ll suggest the same thing is happening in ‘jink’ and ‘junk’. Whereas a different sound comes from ‘guilt’ and ‘gate’.
