You can’t make pressure treated wood that isn’t toxic to the environment due to runoff at treatment sites. It’s like trying to make carbon neutral portland cement. Just like making clinker from lime chemically has to release carbon dioxide, making wood that can’t be broken down when you place it on soil requires toxic biocide chemicals.
How come other companies seem to manage just fine then?
Some people are going to jail right?
Like fuck they are.
As part of a plea agreement, the company has agreed to pay a maximum of $250,000 in fines to resolve a few months of pollution. It’s the first state penalty against the company despite nearly four years of violations flagged by DEQ.
That $250,000 fine will truly show that crime is only a cost of business.
Lmao $250k. I wonder what their profit was just last quarter.
I’m not an “eye for an eye” guy (because truly, there’s no proportional punishment for environmental destruction), but anyone responsible for this should have to live there. Your other properties are forfeited and you now live on that river and drink that water - no municipal services for you. You made your bath, now drink it.
We should probably allow sewage system access so they don’t make the problem worse. But no Internet
They can have a septic but I’ll allow a combination well / septic.
Agreed, but only if they’re paying for annual inspections out of their own pocket
Nah, it’s a “company” so nothing will happen.
It’s their freedom of speech to act as they have.
