There are alternatives like Manor Lords that can scratch that itch. Ones that aren’t by a predatory, anti-consumer company and aren’t infected with Denuvo malware.
I have (and love!) Manor Lords! Admittedly I haven’t played it since it first came out though. Has the dev added more content? I remember later game feeling a bit directionless
