Is YouTube secretly applying an AI filter to Shorts without telling creators? I recently noticed my videos looked strange and smeary on YouTube compared to I...
yeah this is something i’ve been struggling with pertaining to my channel. aside from having all my eggs in the yt basket, i would like to offer my viewers an ad-free experience. as the nature of my channel is 8-10 90-minute videos a week (live music performances from various artists), there’s no one else ready to host so much video for a reasonable price, let alone for free. id love to be on peertube, but i’d have to run my own instance to hog up that much of the storage.
You could make a room in Keet, put your videos there and invite your followers in? No server costs or file size limits since it’s peer to peer. I’m in several rooms with video files of 1-2g, works great.
note that it’s still in beta, but the cool thing is that users can reach out to the dev team there, and they actually respond to you. this guy for example https://github.com/mafintosh
Similar to bittorrent yea, there’s more tech info about the primitives here https://docs.pears.com/
The UI is like normal chat app, with dm’s, group chats, voice calling, file sharing, etc. I recommend you try it out and see for yourself (no phone number or email required)
A number of big names are there, like Louis Rossman, SomeOrdinaryGamers and Mental Outlaw are there, though I don’t know how Odysee reacts to reports, fuck bombs that would make AVGN blush and legal complaints. I don’t think any of their videos is “odysee exclusive” or has exclusive content, so their viewcount is super low on every video, less than 1k
The place seems to have enough variety of content to no longer look like a far-right/crypto controlled place, at least.

thanks fediverse stranger.
glad to help, turdburglar!
A p2p video calling… that can also work as video hosting? Is that like setting up a “permanent” torrent?

What about Odysee? I don’t frequent it too much these days but it seemed like a good alternative a few years ago.
