The projects — 22 of them — are being led by some of the nation’s leading pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and Moderna to prevent flu, COVID-19 and H5N1 infections.
The other equally cutting edge tech is altering a live virus (Adeno) to inject DNA to get to the same outcome as the mrna ones.
I really can’t imagine him thinking injecting humans with a modified virus with custom DNA is any better.
These two ways though are huge breakthroughs.
Edit: I imagine mRna is logistically simpler as you aren’t having to deal with an active virus, just the mrna. Mrna is also single stranded which seems easier. But I don’t actually know that for sure.
Edit: I also think covid was also the first time adeno virus delivery was used at a mass global scale.
