At any moment they can stop supporting trump for any number of reasons but they constantly keep choosing too. I’d say it’s even worse to continue to support him quietly at this point, because it shows the person knows it’s wrong.

It doesn’t necessarily show that the person knows it’s wrong in their eyes. I think it’s more likely that they know they have an unpopular opinion and aren’t readily sharing that.
