Just picked up a 16GB T480s i5 8265U with a touchscreen for just over 100GBP - is this a decent price? I don’t think it has an NVMe but regular 256GB SSD though.
I think this is the slowest version of the processor for the T480s? I was a little hesitant about the price, but it seems to be in fairly good used condition - I get “handed down from business-owner dad and was used for schoolwork and a bit of gogs gaming” vibes about it.
Does the touchscreen work happily under linux? Debian specifically - SID most likely. Apparently it has 10 touchpoints under win 11. Is the touch version of display lesser quality than non-touch? Is it matte? As a coder, I don’t really foresee me using it too much, but it’ll be nice to have if it doesn’t make the display poorer quality.
A little excited either way as my first thinkpad!
According to a reddit post, the touchscreen should work in Ubuntu 18.04, so it will likely work in Dibian SID.
ONly one true way to know for sure. Install Debian sid, and see if it works for yourself.
You could also try live-booting Debian and see if it works out of the box.
